Signs Your Loved One Needs Early Alzheimer’s Care
The hardest thing most families will ever experience is the deterioration of a loved one due to Alzheimer’s. However, it’s important to spot early signs of this disease in order to help them get the Alzheimer’s care they need. Watch for these common signs.
Non-Typical Memory Loss
As we age, our memory often misfires in a variety of ways. For example, it’s very easy to forget the name of your favorite song, only to remember it a few hours later. However, people with Alzheimer’s will forget important information, including the names of family members, on a frequent or even permanent basis. And those memories don’t come back.
Sudden Inability To Perform Simple Tasks
One early sign of increasing Alzheimer’s severity is the surprising inability to perform simple tasks. For example, if your father suddenly struggles to tie his shoes, he may be suffering from Alzheimer’s. This is especially true if he seems baffled or confused by his inability to behave.
Personality Changes
Alzheimer’s attacks multiple areas of the mind and as it progresses, your loved one is likely to start behaving in strange ways. For example, they might become somewhat infantile or attention-seeking. Or that become excessively angry or mean-spirited when they were kind. These personality changes may come and go or they may become permanent.
Physical Pain
The thing that many people don’t realize is that Alzheimer’s will eventually cause physical pain throughout the body. The worst part is that people with Alzheimer’s often can’t communicate this pain, leaving them to suffer silently or struggle to explain.
